Poda Poda Connection

One of the major developmental setbacks in many African countries is poor transportation infrastructure. Some African cities are way too congested for traffic to flow and others lack proper roads for goods and services to be distributed throughout the country. In Sierra Leone,minivans known as poda podas provide some reprieve. But the poda podas have always been a forum for expressions of sociopolitical consciousness and religious perspectives. A few years ago I did a documentary research on the role of poda podas as a forum for activism, debates, protests, and sometimes even gossip. Below is a short clip from the film.
